What is Economic Nexus?
Economic nexus means you have a sales tax obligation in a state based on your sales volume, even without a physical presence. After the 2018 Wayfair decision, states can require out-of-state sellers to collect sales tax if they exceed certain thresholds.
Most states have a threshold of $100,000 to $500,000 in annual sales. When you reach a state's threshold, you must register for a sales tax permit and collect tax from customers in that state.
